It's easy to follow the chart to make the Doily. We give you some written instructions for the first Rounds to get started. Then just follow the chart. Always start the Round with the turning chain (Ch 4 for a tr). Close the Round with a slip stitch into the 4th chain of the turning chain. The Doily has 6 identical sides.
Start | Using the green thread crochet ch 12, slip stitch into first chain to form a ring. |
Round 1 | Ch 3 for first dc, 23 dc's into ring, slip stitch into 3rd chain of turning chain to close the Round. |
Round 2 | Ch 4 for first tr, ch 4, skip 1 st, tr, *ch 4, tr* repeat 9 times, ch 4, slip stitch into the 4th chain of turning chain. |
Round 3 | Ch 4 for first tr, *ch 5, 3 tr's into the next tr of Round 2, ch 5, tr into next tr*, repeat 4 times. Ch 5, 3 tr's, ch 5, slip stitch into the 4th chain of turning Chain. |
Rounds 4 - 9 | Ch 4 for first tr, then follow the chart for the next Rounds. All the stitches you need are tr's, tr's into the same stitch, joined tr's, chains and slip stitches. The chart will show you exactly where to place the stitches. At the end of Round 9, finish with a final slip stitch and cut the thread. |
Short Rows 10 - 12 | Finish the tips of the leaves separately for each of the six sides. Attach the green thread where indicated and crochet according to the chart. Turn your work at the end of each row. Finish row 12 with a slip stitch back into the first 3 joined tr's, final slip stitch and cut the thread. |
Short Rows 13 - 18 | Crochet each tulip separately. Attach the red thread where indicated in row 13 and crochet according to the chart. Turn your work at the end of each row. Finish row 18 with a slip stitch back into the 6 joined tr's, final slip stitch and cut the thread.

To keep the loose ends from showing up, weave them back through several stitches. When the ends are secure, clip them off close to the work. Lay the Doily on a flat surface and shape to proper size (pin in place using rustproof pins). Spray with water and apply spray starch. Allow to dry completely. |
